Google Trends Top Ten!
Wednesday, November 29th, 2006So Google talk rolled out an interesting feature a while back, to show your friends which song your playing…You can see it here…

Well they use it to track what people are playing and rank music using it.

It seems pretty cool, so I’m not totally against it, but I bet a lot of people don’t know this is going on. And it’s important to remember that this user information is turned directly into money by companies like google.
I didn’t see them mention this to me when doing the software update. Software license agreements are all hocus pocus….click here and we’ll make the hundreds of pages of nasty legalese go away so you can just use the damn program. At least google’s got some blurb up about how you opt-in and opt-out. They’re pretty cool about that.
I’m a consumer whore. And How!

Tuesday, July 25th, 2006Bullshit. Bullshit! bullshit. This study from the Reason Foundation makes an interesting read for anyone who’s dieing to avoid the obvious facts. There are no numbers produced and no scientific rigor exercised.
So many holes that I won’t even address them, except with this (from this website):
According to the 1999 Reason Foundation Annual Report, top funders include: C. Boyden Gray and David Koch (each individually contributed $25,000 or more in 1999), the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, the JM Foundation, Charles G. Koch Foundation, Lilly Endowmet, Scaife Family Foundation, Sarah Scaife Foundation, Smith Richardson Foundation, and the Sunmark Foundation. Corporate Donors in 1999 included: American Farm Bureau Federation, American Forest and Paper Association, American Petroleum Institute, American Plastics Council, ARCO Foundation, BP Amoco, CA Building Industry Association, Chemical Manufacturers Association, Chevron Corporation, Chlorine Chemistry Council, Clorox, Coca-Cola, American and Continental Airlines, Daimler Chrysler Corp, Dow Chemical, Eastman Chemical, Edison Electric Institute, ENRON, Exxon Mobil, FMC Corporation, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Kimberly-Clark, Koch Industries, Koch Materials, Eli Lilly, Microsoft, National Air Transportation Association, National Beer Wholesalers, National Soft Drink Association, Pfizer, Inc, Philip Morris, Procter and Gamble, Shell Oil, Sun America, Union Carbide Corporation, United Airlines, Western States Petroleum, Watson Land Company, Whole Foods Market, Winston and Strawn.
They obviously have an agenda.
Chernobyl Photo Gallery Commemorates 20 year anniversary.
Tuesday, April 25th, 2006Photographer Robert Knoth and reporter Antoinette de Jong have a very powerful set of photos with commentary called “Nuclear Nightmares: Twenty Years Since Chernobyl”.
A Snippet:
“The milk from the villages gets tested for radiation levels. If the radiation levels are too high the milk is mixed with uncontaminated milk until the radioactivity is below a set limit”

National Depression Week: Letter to the Inq
Wednesday, April 19th, 2006I caught this article on the inq and felt obliged to chime in as someone who is often grumpy:
Happy HDW,
I’m sure you, I, and a bunch of other Inq readers are in good company this week. Besides AMD finally getting some recognition for their nice chips, what else is going right?
We’ve still got bush, still got a war, tech job industry in the US is still pretty lame, morgage rates are on the rise, oil at all time high, (bullshit) talk of preeminent nuke strike on iran, hamas came to power, It’s hot and perhaps hurricane season this year will be another doozie…not to mention all those Louisiana license plates I keep seeing (in texas and when I was in CO last week).
Eh fuck it,
=)
Glen.

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006Speaking of Chinese super-companies taking over our country and Walmart helping…..This viral advertising campaign is a little bit of light-hearted fun. Pretty creative, nice looking.

Debate between Bill Kristol and Joseph William
Friday, March 24th, 2006So I was browsing around Google Videos and ran into this, which I’m sure is a GEM: A debate between Bill Kristol, a big wig at the Weekly Standard and bigtime Bush, Cheney, and all things R stroker and Joeseph Wilson, the guy who served as an arms inspector, has repeatedly called the administrations bullshit, who’s wife (Valerie Plame) was outed.
Should be a good one. I’d hope it would be springer-esq. “Jerry! Jerry!”
“EFF Confidential” video sponsored by Google
Friday, March 24th, 2006Here you can see a presentation given by Danny O’Brien and Jason Schultz about the EFF.
” Danny O’Brien
Danny O’Brien is the Activism Coordinator for the EFF. His job is to help EFF’s membership in making their voice heard: in government and regulatory circles, in the marketplace, and with the wider public.

Prior to joining EFF, Schultz worked at the law firm of Fish & Richardson P.C., where he spent most of his time invalidating software patents and defending open source developers in law suits. “911 Loose Change” September 11th Conspiracy Video
Tuesday, March 14th, 2006Conspiracy videos are a lot of fun to dig up and watch. From bigfoot documentaries to the masons to the JFK assasination, theres something for all of us.
This video is apparantly about the september 11th attacks in 2001 and the government conspiracy to cover up parts of it. I haven’t watched the thing yet, but I have skimmed and it seems to have some common threads to some of the other 911 conspiracy movies I’ve sat through.
